Jellypod, July sparks, and what’s next in the Salon
|
Hey AI Adventurers, As July begins, some of our U.S.-based members are preparing for a national holiday. But wherever you are in the world, this week feels like a good moment to reflect on the kinds of freedom we all value, like the freedom to explore new ideas, learn at your own pace, and create without needing permission. That’s the kind of independence we practice together in the Salon. And speaking of creativity in motion… our next Salon Presents is coming up this week. Keep reading for details about our guest, Pierson Marks from Jellypod, and how you can join the conversation. Whether this week brings fireworks, quiet reflection, or just a little more space to think, we’re glad you’re here. Let’s take a look at what’s been happening in the Salon and what’s ahead. ~ The AI Salon team ICYMIWe’ve been handing out Founding Mastermind Member badges! Got yours yet? Roger continued expanding his portfolio, while Brandon was blown away by a vibe-coded web app that takes a video and converts it into a PDF instruction guide. Kellye's looking for enterprise-level employees who use Microsoft CoPilot. Can you help? Daniel shared another Suno creation, and Gareth’s video made it to the main page of Midjourney. Also, shout out to Vikki and Gareth, who tied for first place in the OpenAI children’s book creation contest. CJ combined the power of Audio Overviews with a presentation of his latest work, while both Rick and Leah flexed their Midjourney muscles. Becky's looking for info on Agentic AI and Eric could do with some app building help. If you have gardening chops, maybe you can help Christophe? Joining a group of forward-thinking like-minded individuals. AI is the future and will make so many lives much easier if used properly. Can you share a memorable experience from your time in the Salon? Being able to present at the AI festivus. That was a fun event and it was great getting to share my knowledge and perspectives in the future of AI and education. How has being a part of the Salon influenced your perspective on AI? It has made me realize that this is something that we need to evolve with constantly. Approaching AI with curiosity has allowed me to expand my horizon in my own teaching practice and beyond. JOURNEY WITH AIWhat sparked your interest in AI? Seeing its quickness in generating materials for classes. That was my gateway. Can you describe a recent project or experiment you’ve worked on involving AI? I’m currently working on creating a custom GPT and Project in ChatGPT that will take lesson ideas, standards, learning goals, and topics and turn them into student-centered activities with ideas for discussion and guidance along the way. Basically creating a personal assistant to help me shift to more student centered learning. What advice would you give to someone just starting out in AI? Play, experiment, and iterate. Pick a tool and go. Ask it everything, especially, my favorite, something you don’t think it can do. PERSONAL INSIGHTSWhat are your future goals related to AI? I want to help schools, leaders, teachers, and students get more comfortable in implementing AI. Who are your role models or influencers in the AI space? Dr Sabba Quidwai, Dan Fitzpatrick, Phil Alcock, Pat Yongpradit, Merissa Sadler-Holder, and way more! I’m too active on LinkedIn. Catch up with Matt in the Salon!
